It took a little longer than expected, but the truth about Alex Rodriguez has finally come out. After years of inuendo and flat out denials, A-Rod finally came clean about his use of performance enhancing drugs over a period from 2001-2003. And it looks like the only honest man in Major League Baseball is Jose Canseco. What a surprise!
I'm not going to get emotional over this story because I'm pretty tired of hearing, reading, and writing about it. The thing that concerns me is that it took an act of betrayal by someone within the union to expose Rodriguez while many people made their careers from trying to destroy Barry Bonds for the exact same thing. Since Rodriguez was supposed to be the chosen one who would reclaim all the "tainted" records from Bonds, what happens now? Will he be vilified the way Bonds and (to a lesser extent) Roger Clemens have? Or will he get the Jason Giambi/Andy Pettitte treatment since he "admitted" his use? I say "admitted" because Rodriguez has already issued many public denials (lies) to the media and fans over the years.
Personally I don't think any of his records or future records of anyone in the "Steroids Era" should be marked by an asterisk or otherwise. This is just another era, just like the Dead Ball Era, the era before integration, and the Live Ball Era. Baseball has never been as pure as the nostalgic nuts would have you believe. All of the heroes of the game have had one issue or another. I don't understand why there is a wholesale drive to destroy the players of this era...or should I say Bonds plus everyone else.
At the end of the day, there is no savior that can magically heal major league baseball. It's an imperfect game played by imperfect people. Trying to destroy yet another player's reputation will only continue the downward slide of the sport in the public consciousness. It's time to move forward.

i give him credit for being honest
Rodriguez was never honest about using PED's. The man lied on national TV when asked a direct question on 60 Minutes. The only difference between him and Bonds is that Rodriguez wasn't in front of a grand jury.
Baseball been very very good 2 me!
