There are several people outside the Denver (or New Orleans) area that have probably never heard of the name Chris Andersen. If you haven't, you probably don't watch much basketball.
Andersen, also known as 'The Birdman (a self-imposed nickname),' is among the league leaders in blocks per game at 2.0 (currently ranks 4th), and does so in 18.8 minutes per game. Pretty amazing! Imagine what he would do in 36 minutes...

So, when Benjamin Hochman of the Denver Post asked about his defensive prowess, Birdman was neither too shy or...well, too bright...
More after the jump...
Hochman asked how he blocks shots so well. Seriously, here is the dialogue:
"That's what I do," he said. "I defend."
Which led to this exchange:
Reporter: "You're like the secretary of defense."
Birdman: "No, I'm the president."
Reporter: "Commander in chief?"
Birdman: "No, I'm not the president. Dwight Howard is."
Reporter: "Maybe, um, vice president?"
Birdman: "No, I'm not one of those electoral guys. I'm the Birdman."
Then, Hochman made reference to another self-imposed nickname of Andersen, "The Ragin' Rooster."
Birdman: "I don't know where they came up with that."
Reporter: "You said it to me last week."
Birdman: "I'm the Flying Rooster. Oh, but roosters don't fly."
Reporter: "Well, you can be anything you want."
Birdman: "I'm the Birdman."
Amen, brother. Amen.

Didn't he get suspended for drugs? Looks like he never gave them up
