Welcome to the first edition of Reese's boxing rankings. Every month I will rank my top 10 fighters in the world. Some you will agree with. Some you won't agree with thats why you have the ability to comment. Feel free to post your own top 10 or do what everyone else does, AGREE WITH ME!!!

1. Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2 36 KOs)- Undisputed. The "Mexicutioner" has been on a tear since his loss to Erik Morales in March of 05. 6 of his last 10 opponents have not answered the bell. He crushed the Golden Boy and in May I really dont expect Hatton to do any better.

2. Juan Manuel Marquez (49-4-1 36 KOs) - Dinamita literally owns our number 1 fighter but for some reason he just cant get the decision losing twice to Pacman in dramatic fashion. The newly crowned lightweight champion last defeated joel Casamayor by TKO in September and is gearing up for a showdown with the young Juan Diaz later this month.

3. Paul Williams (36-1 27KOs) - Shocked yet? The Punisher is the most versatile fighter in the world. The most feared fighter from 147 all the way to 168. Who else can simultaneously occupy 4 weight classes demanding people fight him. Pavlik ducked him at 160, Forrest ducked at 154, Margarito ducked him at 147. Maybe because his last 3 fights have been TKO victories in all 3 of those divisions. He will face-off with Winky Wright in April.

4. Joe Calzaghe (46-0 32 KOs) - It's kinda hard to rank him this high for several reasons. The most important being that he is overrated. Although he destroyed a diminished Roy Jones, an overrated Mikkel Kessler, a young Jeff Lacy, and a overtrained Bernard Hopkins nearly put him to sleep, Super Joe has showed us that anyone is a special fighter when your fighting has-beens and never-will-bes. 3 things he'd never do again; fight Bernard again, fight Chad Dawson, or leave Wales. Retire Joe, please.

5. Arthur Abraham (28-0 20 KOs) - From the overrated to the underrated. King Arthur has held the IBF Middleweight title since December of 05, his record only has 1 notable name, Edison Miranda. Dont get it twisted though. "King" Arthur has challenged everyone from Jermain Taylor when he was champ to Kelly Pavlik who is still champ. There are 2 reasons you may not have heard of him; 1. He's fought in America once (his 4th round TKO win over Miranda in Hollywood, Florida June of 08), and nobody wants to see this man across the ring.

6. Wladimir Klitschko (52-3 69 KOs) - Lets be real here people. This man can fight. Since he began with the legendary Emmanuel Steward he has completely dominated the heavyweight division and knocking out all bums. He hasnt lost since April of 04 to Lamon Brewster and since avenged that loss. He's won 8 of his last 10 by KO. I'm hoping to see him against David Haye sometime later this year.

7. Isreal Vasquez (43-4 31 KOs) - After a awesome trilogy with Rafeal Marquez who can deny him a spot in the top 10? He won 2 out of the 3 and all 3 were fight of the year candidates. The super bantamweight champion currently is awaiting eye surgery and will be out of action for a few months.

8. Shane Mosley (46-5-1 39 KOs) - He's so sweet, he's sugar. Little known fact, Sugar can hit. Sure he may be 37 and not as good as he once was. But if we've learned anything from Bernard Hopkins age means nothing when you prepare and execute your gameplan. Sugar is the Linear Welterweight Champion and i think next on his menu is the winner of Pacquiao and Hatton. What a great year this would be if that were true.

9. Chris John (40-0-1 22 KOs) - The king of the Featherweights, nicknamed is undefeated but he's also a fighter little known because of his fights held outside of his native Indonesia, 4. All that will change February 28th when he fights the rugged Rocky Juarez. Be on the lookout for this guy if you haven't seen him already.

10. Bernard Hopkins (49-5-1-1 32 KOs) - The question is; How do you rank a fighter that has only lost 1 fight in the eyes of true boxing fans? To be honest, Bernard lost 3 of his last 6 and doesn't hold a significant belt. Sure he beat the love out of Kelly Pavlik but after watching Shane Mosley dismantle Antonio Margarito, a lot of credit MUST be given to Nazim Richardson. Bernard is a sure Hall of Famer and on many countdowns he would be a lot higher but unless he forces Calzaghe into a rematch 10 is where he will sit.

Honorable Mentions: Chad Dawson, Ricky Hatton, Andre Berto, David Haye, Vic Darchinyan, Ivan Calderon, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Rafeal Marquez.

See you all next month.

you have Mosley way too low dude

Your top 5 are ok your bottom 5 are way off

Slick list....but its flawed lol.
Abraham should be over Joe. Look at his fights its an easy choice. Nobody in that weight class is gunning fr him, and when they do they lose. You are right about him actually fighting people and he is also not scared to come abroad and fight.

Klitschko needs to be at 10 or lower. I understand he is the champ, but his victories are weak due to lack of quality opponents. The one he can fight,David Hayes, is being avoided like the plague.

I have no issues with your other rankings.

Thanks for the insight. The top 10 is not meant to be the law. My top 10 comes from watching fights and fighters noone is interested in watching. Noone was interested in Manny Pacquiao until he defeated Barerra. I am a huge fan of a lot of these fighters especially Chris John who most people haven't had the pleasure of seeing. There is a lot more to boxing than what we see on HBO and Showtime. Boxing really needs to make a return to network television for people to really not be brainwashed by premium cable.

I hear ya. I am a big fan of the fights that ESPN puts out and those that appear on various Sports Channel stations.
I am looking forward to see what Cotto's next move is gonna be.

Hey,
Cool blog, I just came across it and I'm already a subscriber
I hope it's not too brash but I have just started blogging
my own weight loss(I shed 30 pounds in a month, so I'm happy
, and I was curious if you could post
my diet for your readers.
My most recent blog post is
weight loss before and after
If you would be willing to do a link trade
that would be excellent because I want to discuss my weight loss success
with your readers. If I can lose that much weight then
any one can. Whatever you do, don't give up and you WILL
achieve all your weight loss goals!
with kind regards,
Joan
