Grant Hill goes FILA on the Utah Jazz

Do you remember those ridiculous Sprite and FILA commercials back in the 90s? (Everytime Grant Hill drinks Sprite...he's not thirsty anymore) Do you remember when Grant Hill came into the league as the next Michael Jordan, and potentially one of the best combo-forwards in the league? Remember all we would hear about was how Hill's mother and Hillary Clinton were roommates in college, or how Grant Hill was married to the beautiful Tamia? Do you remember Christian Laettner? Do you remember the only way to stop Grant Hill was with McDonald's french fries?

Apparently, Hill clearly hasn't forgotten anything, and definitely hasn't lost a step. Being the only Suns player to play in all 71 games this season, Grant Hill has finally found himself back where he belongs, at the center of an offense, and taking games over at the end, when needed. As the Suns fight for their playoff lives, every game is a must-win. And tonight, against the Utah Jazz, Hill took it into his own hands on both ends, with a key block and two clutch moves that reminded me of the Grant Hill from the old days - Hill ended with 26 points.

Once a marketing icon for Sprite and FILA, he has struggled the past few years with injuries. But the revitalized Hill looks determined along with the rest of the Suns to make that final push for the playoffs in the last eleven games.

When was the last time you saw all five Suns players on the court, Steve Nash included, playing defense for a whole quarter? Tonight, they went from zone to man back to zone, and ended the game playing a tough man defense that had Utah scrambling for a tough last second shot that never had a chance. It was indeed a team effort, but Grant Hill had his hands all over this victory.

Last week, I mentioned that I didn't think that the Suns will make the playoffs; they are simply too far behind the Dallas Mavericks, but watching the way they played tonight...and seeing how much passion, energy and effort Grant Hill is putting... I'm rooting for them.

Remember, Grant Hill drinks Sprite.
