According to CBS4Denver, Jay Cutler has asked the team to trade him. Apparently things did not go well in the face-to-face meeting Cutler and his agent had with Josh McDaniels. It has come to the point of no return and according to sources Cutler wants to move on. I figured this would happen I mean its not going to be like Kobe where you demand a trade only to end up staying with the team despite the dramatic offseason.
However its obvious Cutler is not Kobe in more ways than one. If he was as good in his sport as Kobe is in his there would be no discussion to even trade him to begin with. Now I think Josh McDaniels was an idiot to go behind Cutler's back trying to get his guy Matt Cassel while telling Jay he's the QB of the Broncos. I can understand where Cutler is coming from in that regard and its even more of an insult when Cassel ended up with a division rival instead and McDaniels had egg on his face over it.
That being said Jay Cutler is also not in a position of power here. He hasn't lead the Broncos to the playoffs and they managed to falter down the stretch the past two seasons with him as QB. Of course the Broncos suck on defense but that's beside the point. Fact is unless you're a Manning(either one at this point) or Tom Brady every other QB in the NFL has proven to be rather expendable at this point in time. I don't fault Jay Cutler for wanting a trade I really have no issue when a player demands it either because its their career and it is what they make of it. Goodness knows owners don't care about these players beyond their small window of production. However the grass isn't always greener on the other side either.
