Lastnight was a proven example of why the NCAA Tournament is one of the more exciting times in all of sports. Yeah there's no D-Wade or Lebron or real superstars, even though super freshman from Memphis Tyreke "Too Easy" Evans sure looked like one lastnight. I was Really shocked to see Mizzou drop a hundred on Memphis. I would of bet the house that no one would come close to scoring a hundred on Coach Cals team before lastnight. How about Scheyer and Hendersen getting absolutely shut down by Villanovas defense? I mean there were guys in Hendersens shirt all night long, that help defense on him was serious. It should be exciting to see what happens with tonights games. Just a few observations from lastnight:

1. So Who's Who?
In Lastnight games between Duke and Nova, Memphis and Missouri we seem to have an identity crisis. Coming into these games the offensive game was suppose to be the Nova-Duke matchup, up and down all night long, it actually ended up being sort of a grind it out game until Nova pulled away late. The game between Memphis and Mizzouri featuring two defensive powerhouses ended up with NBA scores. I was shocked to see how well these two teams shot against each other. Memphis seemed to forget how to play defense. Wasn't exactly one of the better coaching performances by Coach Cal. Missouri ran simple curls and double screens all night. Kind of Utah-ed Memphis to death. Looked like the super athletic Memphis probably should of slowed the game down or at least attempted to.

2. UCONN Contraversy?
The UConn alleged recruiting scandal didn't seem to have much of an effect on the Huskies. Coach Calhouns boys pulled through in the 2nd half against Purdue behind Hasheem Thabeet dominance in the paint. The stat sheet says 4 blocked shots but there were plenty of times his mere presence took the will away from the Boilermakers to attempt to go inside.

3. What's up with Duke?
Not enough athletes would be stating the obvious but they still have a great coach. Hate him or love him Coach K can coach. Duke just doesn't seem to have the horses to compete on the level that they are accustomed to. It was painfully obvious in lastnights game against Nova. They desperately need a real point guard who can break down the D and allow Hendersen, Singler and Scheyer to be more effective. The million dollar question is can Coach K get a good point? It seems to me that Duke doesn't have the recruiting pull that it once had before. Maybe all the Duke hate from all the winning in the past is coming home to roost. An athletic PG could get them back to Court in Rome.

4. The Bullies of the Big East
Everyone all year has been saying the Big East is the best Conference in the country but lets see what happens when the Tourney starts they said. Well we're down to 12 teams and 5 of them are from the Big East. That's 41.6 percent (Shout-out to my math teacher), yes, almost half of the teams left are from the Big East. Now what does all of these teams have in common? They are extremely physical teams, no lay-up rule is always in effect. I have Louisville and Pitt in my Final Four with PItt winning it all. I will say I haven't been impressed with Pitt having to grind out these wins late. What happens when they face a team who's just as tough-minded as them and won't blink in those last 5 minutes?

5. Does Nova have a real shot?
I say yes. They got me thinking about wanting a bracket do-over. No this doesn't have anything to do with me being from the area. Besides I went to Temple. But it has everything to do with how well Nova play as a team. I know Missouri played a great game last night but I think that might of been a little more about Memphis than Mizzou. Sorry Tigers. When you watch 'Nova play they are really like an assembly line. They form like Voltron and Jay Wright is the head. They have a wave of unheralded role players who can all handle and shoot the rock. A much improved Dante Cunningham and superb role players off the bench. Before lastnight I didn't think they had a real shot, and it wasn't about how bad Duke was it's about how bad 'Nova made Duke look. Pitt, who I do have winning it all, will have to play better than they have been playing to get past Villanova.

Upset Specials Tonight
Watch Gonzaga put a end to those Tar Heels tonight. The Zags have a couple veteran guys (if I may call a College player that), they have been going hard lately probably have the best team talent wise that Coach Few has had since Gonzagas rise. The Heels go down tonight. Oklahoma also gets rid of Johnny Flynn and the Orangemen tonight.

I hope you're watch.

DUKE SUCKS!!!!!

why do everybody keep hating on north carolina everytime you pick them to lose they win

I can't deny it Rob. TJ thanks for reading but no hate involve all basketball even though I ended up being wrong. But if that were true than Carolina would of won it all last year or the year before. Besides people lovvvve the Tar Heels. It's seems it's almost a duty for every brother I know to like the Heels.
