Juan Manuel Marquez vs Juan Diaz..Fight Of The Year Candidate

No clinches. I repeat no clinches. It has been a long time since I saw a fight where the referee wasn't needed until someone was knocked out. The Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz bout was a thing of beauty. Nine non-stop rounds of blood sweat and tears.

I give Juan Diaz a lot of credit he controlled the fight in the early rounds by putting constant pressure on Marquez to the point that myself and Emmanuel Steward thought that that younger Diaz would eventually just overwhelmed Marquez through sheer volume of punches, but we were dead wrong.

Marquez seemed to find his groove around the 5th round and was slowing down Diaz with just beautiful combination counter punches that seemed to disheartened Diaz. Whereas the younger Diaz seemed to be slowing down Marquez was getting stronger.

When Marquez opened up a cut and stunned Diaz in the 8th round everyone knew what was going to happen next. Diaz never had his legs under him in the 9th round and was caught with a perfect counter right and followed up with a beautiful five punch combo that sent he to the canvas. He got up, but it was over, another beautiful right uppercut sealed the deal in what has to be considered the fight of the year so far. You can watch the entire fight above. I have already watched it twice. That is how good it was.

Thanks rob.. Ive been surfing the web for almost two hours just to see this fight. This is a great fight. Marquez is the best p4p... I give a thumbs up for diaz for giving dinamita a good fight.. Diaz will be back soon, he has the skills.. Thanks again rob..

thanks rob!

It was awsome, I believe Marquez, has a chance to overmatch Pacquio. I think he won the rematch. I Like Juan Diaz, he's a great fighter and I would like to see him agains pacquio. I believe he learned a lot from this fight, he needs to reorganized his attack and some others technics.

I'm a Filipino but, I really believe that Marquez won his last fight against Pacquiao. Marquez controlled most of the rounds and lands cleaner punches than Manny. With this fight with Diaz, all I could is it was so terrific,so awesome. No doubt this will be the fight of the year!
