At 12:05 AM, ESPN reporter Michael Smith broke the news that the Dallas Cowboys were releasing Terrell Owens.
Terrell Owens has been the NFL's most polarizing figure not named Michael Vick in a long, long, time. His talent can't be denied, but it doesn't stop people from begging for him to stop acting like a little girl who's not getting the prettiest dress for Easter services.
So where does he go from here? Popular wisdom would probably say the Oakland Raiders, because they take everybody that no one else wants. Truthfully, it's too rough of an economy to have a reputation like he does and to be jobless at the same time. The news just broke a half hour ago, so it's really too soon to predict where he'll wind up, if anywhere.
The man can still play, though. Word is that he's faster now than he's ever been. And he still racked up 1,052 yards and 10 TDs in 2008 at age 35. Like Shaquille O'Neal did for two days this week, the man is defying Father Time. Still, he's been a headache over the years.
Not being able to find a taker wouldn't surprise me, but at the same time, some half-wit GM taking a chance on him wouldn't shock me, either.
My prediction, though? The first team that he's telling Drew Rosenhaus to call: The Washington Redskins. Baltimore wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility, either. Either way, I'm sure Cris Carter's dancing in the streets right now.
T.O gets to much blame for the failures of the Cowboys, fact is the cowboys offense stinks. Romo has played like garbage, he got a big contract but has done nothing to earn it. Playoff wins 0. So T.O speaks out and tells the truth and hes always the bad guy. The dumb asses at ESPN are now celebrating, Trent Dilfer even said his skills were deteriorating because of his season last year.
Even tough his quarterback was injured and the backup couldn't get him the ball. Does anyone really think Roy Williams is a better receiver than T.O? Time will tell but the 'boys won't make the playoff again this year.
I wonder if this is an economic move.
It is not a doubt that TO is talented, but he also dropped way too many balls. The great receivers not only make the catches where they have a step on the guy, they make the catches when they are single and double covered.
For a guy his size, he was not physical enough and a little "gun shy" in the middle. He should have dominated defensive backs. Witten is not even close to has talented as TO, but he will go get the ball and plays with heart; TO just claims to play with heart.
Another thing you so called experts also miss is what TO did without the ball coming his way. He slacked off on routes and threw tantrems when he didn't get the ball. If you are a D-back and you see TO just stop in a route, what would you do?? If you are worth anything as a D-back you know the ball is going to another receiver because TO is jogging or stopped. After you see TO throw a fit on the sidelines you can almost guaranty the ball will be coming his way to keep him happy.
It's a team sport and TO was always out for himself. I hope he learns from it because he is so talented and I do think he cares about winning, but he just has to grow up. He had Jerry in his corner, but when you get paid the type of money he was getting you have to be part of the team and produce; you can't be one-dimensional and out for yourself.

I see BJ saying that TO did nothing when he didn't have the ball, but it sounds like you didnt watch many of the Cowboys games. For example, in the Green Bay vs Dallas game Felix Jones had a 60+ yard TD run, which was only a TD run because TO ran all the way down field and was blocking the DB's.
TO was a scapegoat by the bias mainstream media, I'm not saying he's completely innocent, because he's an attention whore, always giving these same bias media a sound bite (something Randy Moss learned not to do years ago). But as far as Dallas's struggles are concerned, Romo and any other person on the team was just as much to blame for the teams failure.
Its not that TO "ruins" teams he goes to. Its just that teams who pick him up never really become successful enough to justify keeping a player of his salary size on their roster. Im a diehard 49ers fan so i have had my fair share of the TO drama. But when you look at the before and after track record of teams who have signed TO only to release him later, their continued failing after his departure shows that thier problems were deeper than what could be blamed on Owens. The 49ers are still failing to turn in a respectable season record, McNabb and Andy Reid clearly are not what the Eagles need anymore, And the Cowboys should split the blame for their failures on Tony Choke and Jerry Jones for signing thug criminal Adam Jones. My point is that teams that sign TO do it because their team is failing and they think that signing ONE super-talented wide reciever is an instant fix.
