"If rap was a game I'll be MVP, the most valuable poet on the M.I.C." Big L "MVP"
Doesn't matter if it is the rap game or the sports game debate over who is the true MVP will always cause controversy.
If you have been following me on Twitter you should know how hotly the NBA MVP topic has been debated (http://www.twitter.com/BlkSportsOnline).
The reason being everyone's definition of Most Valuable Player is a little different. Of course the only person's opinion that should matter is mine. Why you ask? Because I am a BonaFide Sports Expert and I only speak the truth.
So without further ado here is my 2008-09 NBA MVP:
1- Lebron James 28.4 7.6 7.4 48.9%
The King is the only person in the league who I believe is capable of averaging a triple double, but 28 7 7 while shooting almost 50% from the field is pretty impressive.
Add on he has led his team to the best record in the league, has improved his defense tremendously & has developed not quite a "serial killer" a mentality, but at least an "assault with a deadly weapon" mentally it all adds up in my mind to what should be an unanimous selection for MVP.
Also I want to point out to the D Wade supporters who say that Lebron has the far superior team to the Heat. While I agree that the Cavs are better than the Heat, we aren't talking about the 86 Celtics here. You are talking about a team that gives quality minutes to Wally Szczerbiak for goodness sake. Lebron has taken a team filled with B- and C level players and led them to 65+ wins. Considering they will have more wins this year than the Celtics had last year with three hall of fame caliber players on their roster tells me all I need to know about The King. That is why he is my MVP.
Lebron gets a bonus MVP vote from me for helping me come up with the phrases "Pimp Focus" & "Reject Bench". If you don't know what that means Google it and you will see what I am talking about.
2- Dwyane Wade 30.2 7.5 4.6 49.1
Here is all you need to know about D Wade:
The Miami HEAT Guard is currently leading the league in scoring (30.2 ppg), and registers in the top ten in assists (8th - 7.5 apg) and steals (2nd - 2.19 spg). He will also become the first player in NBA history to have 500 assists, 100 steals and 100 blocked shots in a season.
Wade is having a Jordanesque season when a lot of people thought he would never be the same because of the various injuries he has sustained over the last couple years. Skill wise there is an argument he is the most talented player in the NBA. He has two things that Lebron doesn't have.
1- A ring
2- Serial Killer mentality
There are only a handful of players in the league who can win a game by themselves. It can be argued that Wade has won the majority of the Heat games this year by himself. If that isn't the definition of "valuable" I don't know what is.
3- Darth Kobe Bryant 27.0, 4.9, 5.3 46.7
Bean has had better years statistically, but it is pretty obvious that Kobe only has one goal in mind and that is winning the NBA Title. He has sacrificed a lot of his offense to allow other players on the Lakers to flourish. He has led his team to the best record in the West by a wide margin. That feat is even more remarkable considering the time Andrew Bynum was injured. It can be argued that accomplishment is even greater than Lebron leading his team to the best overall record because the Western Conference top to bottom is way superior.
If you want to dig a little deeper one could say that Lebron and D Wade are having the years they are having because of Kobe. They both said seeing Kobe's work ethic during the Summer Olympics made them both realize to be the best basketball players they could be they were going to have to go that extra mile. When you are inspiring not just your team, but your peers that shows not only how valuable you are to the team, but how valuable you are to the league.
I want to give an honorable mention to Dwight Howard who is well on his way to become a perennial MVP candidate.
I want to hear your thoughts on my selections, so feel free to comment.

there really isn't a question of who number 1 is. lebron has had it in the bag since the all-star break. for a minute there, kobe went on a tear and was catching up to him...but its just been lebron's year in the regular season.
after lebron, then it's a toss up between 2,3,4...kobe, wade, howard, even chauncey billups.
but i dont see how lebron won't be unanimous. he has owned the league this year.
its going to kill kobe that lebron took the mvp from him. and its going to kill lebron that his one loss at home is at the hands of kobe. storylines at their finest!
I will use this as motivation
Lakers over Cavs in 5....Cavs should have no problem making it out of the East with the injuries to the Celts and Magic lately. Lakers will earn their trip and they won't be playing around with the Cavs come Finals time....the real question will be who will get the most suspect calls...Bean or LBJ??
Man Wade is having a good year
I respect LeBron's on-court activities. However I look at him and think what pressure rests on his shoulders.
There was only one MJ - but is LeBron good enough to surpass him?
Methinks not. Everyone wants to see the next MJ. What about settling for what the NBA has right now?
Lately I've been getting away from basketball and turning to football. Mmmm. LOLz.
Lebron..yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeahhh
We all know about Lebron,s dominance in the court but Daaaaaaanm look at the booty in the left corner n Lebron is checkin it out as well.Lebron knows Booties.
