I don't know and you don't know, I don't care and you shouldn't either. It doesn't really matter if he took the SAT's or not. The only thing that matters is that Derrick Rose and players like him are forced to play a game of pretending to want to go to college in order to better market themselves for the NBA.
We all know that players like Derrick Rose would go straight from high school to the pros if they could. They really have no interest in going to college for the learning (they will enjoy the women and perks though). And the way college is set-up these athletes don't even have to go to class after the first semester. So are u really trying to be a student-athlete if there is no real need to go to class after your first semester? I'm not saying Derrick Rose or others didn't or don't go to class. But if their goal is to be a NBA player and to better their draft status are they really going to go to that freshman english class at 9am in mid February?
The NBA's arbitrary rule of making you wait one year before you can enter the draft creates an environment that leads to fake SAT takers and grade changing. It has created the "one and done" mentality. If a high schooler knows going into college he plans on leaving after one year what is his incentive to do anything more than get passing grades. Going to class is looked at as part of the process necessary to get drafted and that's all. The NBA isn't effected by what happens at the school's after the kids leave. Right now who knows what is going to be the ramifications for Memphis because of Derrick Rose and USC with the OJ Mayo dealings. These programs could lose scholarships, money and even the wins that took place while Rose and Mayo were in school. The NBA got a rookie of they year out of it so they don't care. But think about the players, fans and coaches of those schools who might be put on probation, lose scholarships or whatever kind of punishment the NCAA levies.
Basketball and football are the only sports that we hear complaints about kids staying in school. Baseball players get drafted out of high school. Tennis players and golfers turn pro before they enter high school without all of the outrage. And many of the tennis and golf kids don't go to "real" school, they just have a tutor. Yet rarely do you hear the outcry about these kind of practices.
The "one and done" circumstance isn't working all the way around. Players who don't qualify for school at are now looking to go overseas. Most of these players aren't mentality prepared to be overseas and be pros. The NBA should change the rules and allow players to leave after high school. And if they don't get drafted why can't go back to college. As long as you don't play a second of NBA ball you should be able to go back to school. And that should stand for any year of college.

From what I've seen those players who are going over seas aren't tearing it up, they're getting exposed over there too and ruining their draft stock. Me personal I feel if you have rules that you're not going to follow what's the point of having them cause obviously nobody wants to enforce them.

You know Kali your view on this is right on point. As i sit here watching Serena Williams break some girl off from Russia, I realize how there are litteraly hundreds of examples of kids who have gone pro before the age of 18 and most of them never spent a day in college. This NBA 1-and-done rule needs to be abolished because it serves no other purpose than to satisfy the delusions of the NBA and the NCAA's own self-gratification.
You are correct in some kids motivations.
I the Memphis case, the NCAA has not presented any information to Memphis to support their may "libelous" accustions concerning Rose.
Memphis essentailly said that there is a level of proof that is required to make certain charges about a person. Given that Memphis has good lawyers, I'm sure that Memphis was not willing to cross that line.
But is the NCAA willing to cross the line.
The NCAA should be careful. Memphis has made it very clear that details will be given to the public.
AND if they are incorrect (NCAA), Rose has $90M to sue the NCAA.
The scholastic aptitude test (SAT) is in place because college is about SCHOOL. Robert, it is more than clear that you are in disagreement with athletes being required to get an education. You erroneously and generally assert that most athletes have no desire for higher learning and that is not only incorrect, but insulting. Reading this article leads me to believe that you see absolutely nothing wrong with a dumb jock. What about the young man from Georgia who was a gifted athlete and academician before the little 15-year old white girl got hold to him and sent him to the pen for rape after she'd booted her ass up in one of the trailers at school? He was the one that Oprah was instrumental in getting released- remember that? That young man had dayumned near a 4.0 and loved learning and wanted to study medicine. Athletics was just a means to an end for him- at that time. You piss on many dreams when you demote our young men to dumb jocks chasing a dollar, instead of young men who happen to be gifted athletically yet may want to make other contributions to the world.
