No one was surprised when Sammy Sosa's name was linked to steroids. Hardly anyone doubts the accuracy of the 2003 drug test that Sosa failed. Sosa was just another big name in the dozens that have been dropped sporadically over the past several years. It seems that every month, the league will expose another big name player as a certified steroid abuser. Many big name stars today are just waiting for the other shoe to drop (I'm looking at you Pujols, Pudge, Griffey Jr...)
Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, and David Wright are a few of the remaining players untainted by steroids in baseball. A couple years ago, it was fun for fans to guess which players were possibly on steroids. Players with big heads, pimples, and bad attitudes all became prime suspects.
In addition to preserving the intergrity of the game, Major League Baseball should be more concerned about the health of its players (employees). The Chris Benoit tragedy was just one example of how steroid use may be dangerous to the health of steroid users. MLB commissioner, Bud Selig, made a mistake by ignoring the drug problem for so long, but the entire league, from the owners to the trainers, chose to ignore the problem. MLB took the same approach in response to greenies (amphetamines), alcohol, tobacco, and cocaine use by MLB players.
The records associated with the "Steroids Era" will remain untainted because every era of baseball had unfair advantages. Pine tar, stolen signs, corked bats, spit balls, and Vaseline under the lid are just a few examples of the popular methods of cheating throughout various eras.
The difference between the steroids era and other eras of baseball was the lack of action by MLB owners, administration, coaches, players, etc. to stop the rampant use of steroids. Steroids became so popular in the MLB, many of the players felt that it was not cheating because the league did not test, investigate, nor punish steroid users.
Today, I keep a short list of popular players who I suspect to be steroid free and a long list of players who most likely used steroids. If any of the clean players on my short list was found to be a steroid user I would be devastated. I would not be disappointed by the actual use. I would be disappointed because these are players I believe to possess amazing natural talent that did not need the help of performance enhancing drugs.
My short list: Derek Jeter, Randy Johnson, Ichiro, Smoltz, Glavine, and Maddux.
Suspected users: Any player not on the short list with an expensive contract (>$5mill) such as Pujols, Soriano, Zambrano, Sheets, Peavy, Bay, Ortiz, Guerrero, Sizemore, Beltran, Reyes, ... this list goes on for hours.

its gonna take a very long time for Major League Baseball to change this reputation. And it sucks mostly for the young players who still have yet to make their mark. We have come to this point where if a new player happens to be a hitting phenom the every one will second-guess the legitimacy of his talent.
No players in MLB would shock me if they were found to have used steroids at some point in their careers. I know that in another month's time or so, a prominent player from the recent past or present will be popped for steroid use. Nothing that goes on in MLB in terms of PEDs surprises me anymore.
Enough of the bullshit. Let's keep it real. There is a list out there with 100+ players that tested positive. The same list that arod was on. How come we are randomly finding out players that's on the list? This list needs to be released to the public we have a right to know and its definately not fair to the players that have already been exposed.
