I promised myself I wasn't going to do this I said:
"Self, I will not allow you to write about Brett Favre. You have much bigger things to do. Don't waste your time. You are Robert Littal don't go there."
But one thing about this whole Brett Favre drama has been nagging me and no one is reporting it so I am just going to come out and say it:
When I say old I mean really old in football years anyway. He will turn 40 during the NFL season and why would anyone including the Vikings want a 40 year old quarterback trying to lead their team to the Super Bowl.
When was the last time a 40 year old quarterback lead a team to the Super Bowl? Jim Plunkett? George Blanda? It is unlikely as being a 40 year old virgin, but this isn't a movie because if it was I would have already walked out of it.
You know what I have noticed about "God" Favre the last two years? When it got cold he went from a very good QB to a garbage one. When old people get cold it hurts. I am in my early 30's but when I was in my prime at The Ohio State University we use to play intramural football all winter long and it never bothered me a bit. Now if it is under 40 degrees and a young lady wants me to come over to her residence this is the real conversation I have with myself:
"Rob she is pretty fine, but that is a long drive and it is raining with a possible chance of snow. I will just check out what is on Cinemax After Dark".
Beyonce couldn't get me out of the house if it was below freezing. I can only imagine if you are 40 year old quarterback being beat down by 300LB lineman when it freezing out. How do you think that feels? I remember Brett being curled up in the fetal position in the NFC Championship Game against the Giants. He looked old and cold then.
Add to that Favre has played five million games in a row and you see my point. If he went to Minnesota he would have eight home games in a dome, but he would still have to travel to Green Bay, to Chicago and other cold weather cities.
He is an old man whose body is telling him to sit down, but his brain or more importantly his ego still thinks he is 27. At some point we all have to realize that we aren't what we use to be. It is the reason I am writing sports articles and not trying to get a recording contract in the music industry. You just need to know when it is time to move on.
If Brett Favre goes to Minnesota he will have his moments. Hell I dropped 20 in YMCA basketball game a couple of weeks ago. Of course I couldn't get out of bed the next day and that is my point it is time Brett to stay asleep.

Thank you jesus someone actually said it. He sucks now it isn't worth it.
Brett Favre is a fine quarterback. He isn't "Brett Favre" but he can still get it done. They have the best RB in the league. It makes sense to put all the chips on a one year run for the title.
I agree with you, Favre is real old. But you have to look at it this way, your the Vikings, you have Adrian Peterson, and a damn good O-line. You want to win a championship this year, your options at quarterback are 40 year old Brett Favre, Tarvaris Jackson, or 37 year old Gus Frerotte. Favre is far and away the best choice if your trying to win a championship. It's not even close. The Vikings just need Favre to do for them what Collins did for the Titans. Control the ball and try not to turn it over, AP will do all the hard work.
I rather have "Sage Rosenfels" or "TJ" over Favre at this point in his career. More distraction than production
Looks like we wont have to worry about that. Favre failed to show up and the Vikings showed Favre the door. I'm proud of them. The Favre saga would've plagued their whole season if they allowed it too. Either make a move or don't but don't leave your team in a state wondering "is he coming or isnt he?"
