2 Live Stew's 1st Annual Stewpendous Awards Post-Party Recap - Robert Littal Presents The Infamous BlackSportsOnline

2 Live Stew's 1st Annual Stewpendous Awards Post-Party Recap

It was a great night in Atlanta for a party and Ryan and Doug Stewart did not disappoint. On Saturday, July 11th these two brothers, known by most sports fans as the 2 Live Stew's in over 24 national radio markets, held their First Annual Stewpendous Awards Post-Party and everything was done up in stupendous style!

The upscale club event was held at the beautiful W hotel in Midtown Atlanta and was sponsored by Crown Royal. Diageo, the world's leading premium drink company, who manages the Crown Royal brand along with many others, provided an open bar all night long for patrons to enjoy. Event attendees consisted of many A-list entertainers and sports celebrities including Champ Bailey of the Denver Bronco's, TNT's Craig Sager, actor Boris Kudjoe, and rapper Big Boi from Outkast who headlined the party with a 30 minute performance of old and new material. With an open bar and beautiful people all around what could make for a better night except to be able to dance it away to the music played by DJ Kid Capri. Everything was top-notch.

The reason for the evening was even more stupendous. As their radio show and national popularity has spread the 2 Live Stew's wanted to give back to the community that has helped elevate their careers. The post-award party was organized to recognize all nominees and winners while also raising money for the 790 The Zone Foundation. 790's Foundation strives to positively impact the health and welfare of families in communities throughout metropolitan Atlanta through partnerships with other non profit organizations.

But, in true Stew fashion they didn't want it to be just any Awards Show or post-party for that matter. Says Doug Stewart, "We just wanted to do an awards show, but have fun with it. We have "tongue and cheek' awards like the 'Keepin It Too Real Baller Award'. It's all about having a lot of fun." Of course, fun is what they got when Craig Sager appeared in some type of get-up comprised of a purple jacket, orange shirt and a tie that attempted to bring the whole look together. At one point in the evening, Craig leaned over and told me he thought he was getting the Stewey's Most Fashionably Dressed Award, but that later someone had told him it was really the Worst Dressed Award. He said it in a way that almost had me believing he was shocked if such deception had been used. Maybe he just didn't realize the "tongue and cheek" nature of the award. Well, I smiled and politely assured him he did win Most Fashionable. And then I had to walk away and recalibrate my eyes.

Though many big names did turn out for the event, one notably absent winner was Atlanta Hawks own, Al Horford. Though he was just on the radio this past week receiving his award for Best Appearance in a Music Video, beating out Reggie Bush might I add, Al for whatever reason did not partake in the festivities. I was looking forward to seeing some NBA players, but the only one I got was old school legend Dennis Scott. Somehow that didn't excite me as much as Dwight Howard's shoulders would have (by the way I am so enamored by Dwight's shoulders I have attempted, and always failed, to start them as a trending topic on Twitter #dwighthowardshoulders) Dwight was nominated for most Stewpendous Super Hero up against Birdman from the Denver Nuggets and Dwayne Wade from the Miami Heat.

As I worked the room, I saw the likes of Keisha Knight-Pullum (aka Rudy from The Cosby's) that looked as cute as a button in her little black dress, to a pretty tipsy Terri Vaughn, who played Lovita on the Steve Harvey Show. She was hugged up on her husband Karon Riley of the Arena Football League. And, kudos to the gorgeous Boris Kudjoe (Soul Food) and Laaman Rucker (Why Did I Get Married?) for graciously blessing my friends and me with pictures. Other sightings included, Malik Yoba, of New York Undercover and Spawn's, Michael Jai White. There were many current football players in attendance too, Brian Scott of the Buffalo's Bills who happens to be a cousin to the Stewart's, Ovie Mughelli of the Atlanta Falcons and Boss Bailey formerly of the Denver Broncos who showed up on the purple carpet with his brother Champ.

The vibe was very nice, chill, and not stuffy at all. The celebrities who came out were very approachable and the entire night was extremely positive. Maranda Atkinson and Lamar Campbell, both in attendance, said the night was truly a fun event for everyone. Atkinson recalls, "The Stew's really have great personalities. They weren't Hollywood at all. I really like them and had a great time at the event."

The highlight of the night was the performance that Big Boi gave. The crowd went nuts when he hit the stage with some old Outkast sets. The music was blaring but no one cared. Everyone in that ballroom could feel the music literally running through their veins. The energy was incredible.

So, after a successful inaugural post-awards party I wondered what was next for Doug and Ryan. In 8 short years they have already managed to go from asking for airtime on 790 The Zone to being syndicated across the country and guest appearing on ESPN 2's Cold Pizza. A marketing and media enterprise has even been built by Ryan as the 2 Live Stew's have expanded their radio and television empire. With such a strong brand forming I asked Ryan, "What's next for the Stewart brothers?" He replied, "The Stewart Education Foundation. We are going to help the youth. We are going to help the kids with education in the classroom and learning."

So not only are these established men doing fun and exciting things in the media, they are committed to helping America's youth. Right now Ryan and Doug Stewart are the epitome of what it means to work hard and play hard. They are truly doing stupendous things on and off the air waves.

Great write up Alycia! Sounds like it was a great event! Keep up the good work....

This borders on entertainment produced by the same folks who do professional wrestling.
Funny,hilarious,especially the outfits.
Craig Sager has them all fooled with the jazzy colors (he's one of them).I wonder if he has spinnas,a chow or pitbull at home ?
Way to play it off Atl style Craig.
And oh my,what a gaggle of negros !

Great article! I feel like I was there. Can't wait to hear about next years event.

Thanks for the play by play. Sounds like a good event! When is the next one?

It was just as she described! It was a great crowd, mature and diverse. The celebrities blended in nicely and did not seem to mind talking to the party goers. This party was a hit. (YES, Big Boi's music was extremely full of bass...but she is right, I did not care at all, thanks to the great drinks!)
