No suspension. No punishment. No banishment. Nothing should happen to Michael Vick now that he has finished his nineteen month sentence for financing a dog fighting ring.
It is over. No matter what PETA says, no matter what ESPN says & no matter what you think. It is over.
Is Dog fighting wrong? Absolutely.
Did Michael Vick deserve nineteen months in jail for it? Absolutely not.
I am not going to rehash everything. Everyone knows that Vick handle the situation badly, but I think people understand now after watching a convicted felony T.I. get a slap on the wrist and Donte Stallworth get thirty days for running over someone with his car while legally drunk, that Vick was treated to harshly by our legal system.
Dictator Goodell is sitting on his throne right now and thinks that he has to hand down some sort of harsh punishment, but being in jail for nineteen months for something he shouldn't have gotten two months for is punishment enough.
Here is the thing about Dictator Goodell even though he has been laying down the hammer on NFL players who have had brushes with the law those incidents haven't decreased they have increased. So maybe he should reevaluated how he handles these situations.
It is about time Goodell uses some common sense and let this man get back on the field. Michael Vick is a quarterback that relies on his legs so another year out of the league will effectively end his career in my opinion.
If he wants to slap him with a two or even four game suspension to save face fine (even though I totally disagree with that). Anything longer than that will let me know he is drunk with power.
I honestly hope Vick realizes that this is his final chance. A lot of people including myself are fighting for him to get that 2nd chance don't make us look bad.

I think you're right Rob. But that racist Goodell is gonna punish, Him anyways.
Have to agree w/ Phife on this one. Roger Goodell prides himself on being the "law and order" commissioner. As someone who used to work in the political arena, I can tell you that "law and order" is thinly veiled code for "keeping black folks in their place."
Rob the reason why Vick got such a bigger sentence for this than others is also because he was part of a dogfighting interestate gambling ring he would've gotten a bigger sentence based on that alone but he didn't.
That'd be nice Rob, but we live in an era where people like Goodell and Stern like to flex their power over these black boys and let them know whose still in charge of their lives.
Hey Rob.... MIKE IS FREE!!! He's not owed anything else besides his freedom. You gotta look at it from the other side of this. Roger Goodell asked Vick straight up like a man if he had anything to do with this.... he said no, turns out he was bankrolling the whole thing. He is owed freedom, he isn't owed the right to play in the NFL. Michael Vick made Goodell look like a chump as soon as he got the job.
Imagine that was you. Imagine you have a new writer who gets the internet all a buzz to your website. Now imagine after he starts getting you some pub rumors speculate that he's plagerizing all his material... you ask him straight up and he tells you no. Now after the stuff hits the fan and you find out he's been stealing Bill Simmons articles and it makes BSO look like a fool he apologizes and asks you to come back and write for BSO. Do you have to grant him a spot back on your site? No, because he can find work elsewhere. NFL isn't Vick's only option... and hell it shouldn't too much speculation. He needs to go to one of the other leagues (UFL, AFL or CFL) and repair his image. I'm not hating on vick but I'm not gonna bang the drums for his salvation. He screwed up royaly. He was the face of the league. You don't see Peyton Manning or Tom Brady running illegal dogfighting rings. You don't see Lerbon James jeopardizing his hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts for anything. You don't see Albert Pujols or Derek Jeter being indicted by the feds. Vick screwed Vick's life up.... not Roger Goodell, not ESPN and not the feds. If he wasn't doing wrong he wouldn't have gotten caught. I wish him well in life but I'm not gonna march on the steps of the NFL offices if they choose to take their ball away from him.
this is y i am glad this sight exists..in order to tell sports news from a black perspective..i just heard colin cowherd refer to mike vick as the "bottom of the gene pool"..bc he ran the dog ring..and he doesnt deserve a 2nd chance bc he previous did such heinous acts as giving the middle finger and smoking weed..give me a break..i go to Profootball talk and these commenters refer to mike as literally a piece of s---..for what? this man did not lay a hand on any human being..Why do you think that such a large % of white sports fans consider mike to be "scum" for an infraction that did no harm to any human?...my opinion is that it stems from jealousy over talent and $
The NFL is just like any other job. If this happened to me I would not expect to have my job when I got out of prison. Why make it a race issue? He's not owed anything. He was the highest paid player in the NFL and he pissed it all away.

Mike doesn't need football, he can create a show like TO. America (A) Loves trainwrecks (B) Loves second chances. The Vick show would be one or the other
Vick is a piece of shit and hopefully he will never make another dime!
