Michael Vick Reinstated, but Relax He Isn't A Savior

The Dog Whisperer is finally free to sign with an NFL team after Roger Goddell finally laid down the hammer on him. Here are the stipulations per our friends at ProFootballTalk.com

"He is eligible to participate "without delay" in training camp, and he may play in the final two preseason games played by the team with which he signs.

And he won't be suspended to start the season in the traditional sense. Instead, he will be permitted to participate in all team activities other than games.

Vick then will be eligible for full reinstatement by Week Six.

So, as a practical matter, it's a five-game suspension. (Depending on the bye week schedule of the team that signs him, Vick could miss only four games.)

The league also announced that former Bucs and Colts coach Tony Dungy has agreed to work as an advisor and mentor to Vick."

Do I think five (or four games depending on the bye week) is too long of a suspension?

Absolutely, but at this point no need to worry about that. This is a very important time for Michael Vick. Couple of things he needs to remember:

1- STAY OUT OF THE STRIP CLUB
2- SHOOT AS MANY PSAs WITH PUPPIES AS HE CAN
3- NEVER EVER LIE TO GOODELL AGAIN
4- TRY TO KEEP A LOW PROFILE
5- ACCEPT ANY ROLE YOUR NEW TEAM GIVES YOU

We have to be realistic here when Michael Vick got into all this trouble people were already questioning his skills as a quarterback. Great athlete and very electrifying player, but that didn't change the fact he was regressing as QB.

No matter how great of an athlete you are as a QB you have to be able to be accurate and smart while making plays in the pocket.

Your physical gifts aren't as important as your "mental" gifts.

Luckily for Vick while he was making license plates the NFL stole the "Wildcat" from college football which automatically gives him an easy position to start off with and be successful.

It is ironic that Vick basically started the "wildcat" offense in Atlanta.

I think the fans of wherever he goes needs to realize that Michael Vick can be an "asset" to your team, but don't expect him to be a "savior".

I appreciate that you pointed out what is often forgotten. Vick was not a rising star when he left. He was about half a season away from being one of those players who was great in college, but couldn't cut it in the NFL.

Borrowing from Oran Juice Jones from "In the Rain", I hope he learns a valuable lesson from all this. If I EVEN THINK Vick got in a fight at the club; that's it! He better stay close to Tony Dungy (move in if he has to) and keep his nose clean!

Vick will be fortunate to have a team sign him to be a back-up. He's not a starter since he's been out for 2 years.

Since this has turned into the Black TMZ, when are you going to run that story on Reggie Bush and Kim K. breaking up? Don't blame him. No way I could marry a chick that "smashed the homie" on the internets for the whole world to see. But I bet he had have some fun with it these past couple of years.

I agree on you on that RL, but you know he still better on some other quarterbacks other there, Or maybe he can go to UFL and be the face of that league and comeback 1 year after whatever happens.

Pretty sure I'd still start Michael Vick over Luke McCown. Regardless of what people thought of his skills he led his team to the playoffs on multiple occasions.

Also, the four/five game suspension is fair, considering he lied right to his boss's face on multiple occasions. That was the main problem.

Go commit a felony and lie straight to your boss's face and to law enforcement about it and see if you they let you have your job back with no punishment. The boss would laugh in your face and boot you out the door. Goodell is at least letting Vick play again.

Hey Rob. Kim K is now on the market. Where are the pics?

I'd still say Vick is better then over half of the current starting QBs in the NFL. Even with two years off.
