ortiz-ramirez2.jpgThey need to release all the players names that failed the Performance Enhancement Drugs test in 2003. Major League Baseball doesn't control the list and we know the players thought it was an anonymous test, but at this point as a player wouldn't you rather all the names be released instead of being scared that it could come out at anytime?

With David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez's name being released from the list recently, basically the top home run hitters from the past 5-6 years are on the list including, Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod came out after his name was released and "sort of" admitted that he used steroids. It was big news on ESPN and in the papers for a couple of days. Commentators went on and on about how it damages the game and what the kids will think. You know what the kids think? They think they like to see Big Papi, Manny and A-Rod hit long home runs.

Steve McNair isn't a Hall of Famer

I know this probably isn't the best time to go here, but I had to because we all know that there's a tendency to overstate people's greatness when they pass on, especially if it's early. There was some discussion of McNair's Hall of Fame worthiness when he retired, with the verdict coming down against. Now some chatter came up again, and it needs to be said definitively that he isn't, and that the sportswriters who choose not to vote for him aren't being racist. When you look at all the metrics that we can measure him by, he come up short across the board. No rings, no eye popping stats, a .500 playoff record, and only three Pro Bowls. The only things in his favor are his MVP award in 2003 and his 30,000 passing yards, which don't mean as much as they used to (28 other quarterbacks have at least 30,000 passing yards and only half of them are or will be Hall of Famers). He was very good, often great, but he just didn't pass the necessary benchmarks to cement his case.

I know sometimes I can be a little long winded and to be honest I don't even want to write about this, so I will get straight the point:

No need to beat around the bush there are only two possibilities to this Manny Ramirez 50 game suspension:

1- Manny is completely innocent and it was the doctors fault for giving him a prescription with a banned substance in it.

2- Manny is a lot smarter than we give him credit for, was trying to be slick and got caught.

The good news is that all of Rick Ankiel x-rays came back negative and he has full movement in his legs and arms. The bad news is that you know he is hurting this morning. Running head first into an outfield wall is definitely worse than a lot of the "jacked up" collisions we talk about during the football season.

If you have never been on a Major League Baseball field you have no idea how solid that wall is. Not to simplify things, but it is literally like "running into a wall". That padding does not have much give at all, so running face first is not preferred.

Hopefully Ankiel will only be out for a few games and next time he needs to try to do a "Bo Jackson" as oppose of using his head as a stopper.

Even Ricky Hatton was like "Damn I didn't even get hit that hard".

Since Alex Rodriguez has been out, all I ever hear from the New York Yankees is how much they need for Alex Rodriguez to come back. How they'll be so much better when he comes back.

The Yankees' total payroll is $201,449,189 and they can't win. What, is he carrying your steroid stash? Can't you make it work without him?

Sure, A-Rod is the Yankees best player. I get that. But if the Yankees are paying the rest of them as much as they are, shouldn't they be able to manage? This isn't basketball or football, where the best player draws double-teams or something like that. At the end of the day, you're standing up there alone, swinging a bat. It's not like A-Rod helps swing or provides moral support or anything. And weren't a lot of these guys "the best player" somewhere else before they played with Rodriguez?

We all knew him for different things. Some of us knew him as that ridiculous left handed batter on the Mets from back in the day. Some of us remember him from the 3 titles he won with the Yankees in the late 90s. Some of us just knew him because hell, his last name was "Strawberry." But then we came to know of him as the druggie. Not steroids and anti-inflams, but ectasy and cocaine.

But just this past week, retired baseball player, Darryl Strawberry released his memoir, entitled " Straw: Finding My Way" a personal statement documenting his stories from baseball, drugs, women, sex and life. While Strawberry wasn't considered the best player in baseball, this book definitely defines him as one of the most interesting baseball players in recent memory.

Strawberry shares tidbits of his book and life in a recent interview at SportsRadioInterviews, notably telling listeners that he slept with somewhere between 1000 and 5000 women, more definitely towards the latter. Close to five thousand women? Ok, ok, it makes sense. I mean he's a star baseball player, you figure he can get with about 8-10 women a month. 120 women a year? Wait, that still doesn't make sense.
