| Larry Brown: Serial Killer By Robert Littal Have you ever wondered why some killers look like that couldn’t beat up the local librarian, but could kill people without hesitation and without any remorse? The reason why is because when you look at them naturally you let you guard down because they are so unassuming, so weak and so non-threatening. Even after a crime takes place and you are watching the killer on TV you still have a tough imagining this person slicing someone’s neck. This brings us to Larry Brown the coldest killer in the ranks of basketball today. Larry has left murder victims in Kansas, LA, Philly, Indiana, San Antonio and that is just to name a few. Similar to a lot of psychotic killers LB is a genius. When it comes to X’s and O’s many would consider him one of the best if not the best coach in the game. LB has a problem though similar to Hugh Hefner in that he cannot stay with a woman for too long and in LB’s case that woman is NBA players, NCAA Teams, and NBA franchises. You look at LB and he doesn’t look the part of a killer with his Harry Potter glasses and soft spoken demeanor, but don’t be fooled. LB has left many of Dear John letters on the porch and left many teams at the altar. It is no secret now that Larry has already plotted his way out of Detroit to the cushy front office seat to watch over King James in Cleveland. LB does not know the meaning of the word subtle. He couldn’t wait to after the season; he has the patience of let’ s say a killer. Think about how he got the Detroit job. Rick Carlisle had led the Pistons to back to back 50 win seasons, but that was not good enough when LB came calling. Through backdoor negotiating, Carlisle was out and within 3 hours LB was in. Have you ever dated someone and as soon as they break up with you they have a new special someone within 3 hours? Do you really think that person just happen to show up on the scene 3 hours before? Teams don’t fire 50 win coaches unless they know they got something better on the way. So while the Pistons look to go back- to-back, they also have to deal with the fact their coach is really the boss of another team and by denying it he is only making it worst. What is interesting is people are acting as if this is not expected; LB has been doing this for 30 years. How many times you have to be bit by a dog to realize that you might want to pull your hand away? This is a man who preaches to do things “The Right Way”, but for most of his coaching career have done some of the shadiest things in the profession. The definition of selfish is courting another team while coaching one in the playoffs. Do you really think that Cleveland would have hired whoever the hell they hired if LB didn’t have any input? So while reporters are worry about how many times A.I. goes to practice LB’s dirty laundry is kept in the closet. Joe Dumars is a smart man and I suspect he knew this was coming, but his gamble has paid off with at least 1 NBA Championship and maybe a 2nd this year. Dumars knew he had about 3 years before LB wore out his welcome with his players. David Robinson complained about LB and David Robinson never said a negative thing about anyone. So as the rumors persist that the Pistons want to win in spite of him and he continues to deny what everyone knows is true the question begs what will be the ending to all this. It will end how it always ends with LB. With another victim left for dead and a new victim who has ignore what has happen in the past, so they are destined to be a victim in the future. |
