There is one quote from Mike Tyson that always stood out to me. He was talking about being in jail for rape and I am paraphrasing, he says:
“I didn’t rape that woman, but I deserved to be in the jail for all the bad things I have done”
I am a big believer in karma and while I have it on very good authority that Mike Tyson didn’t rape Desiree Washington, I also know that Tyson was no Saint.
There were two people who I was pretty sure weren’t going to make it to their 40s when I was growing up in the early 90’s.
One was Tupac Shakur (unfortunately that came true RIP) and the other was Mike Tyson.
I never thought it was a coincidence that the day Pac was fatally shot he was at a Tyson fight. Things like that happen for a reason.
To my surprised Tyson has survived and it appears to be doing as well as expected considering the type of life he has led.
Some thought the tragedy of losing his daughter earlier this year might send him spiraling out of control, but he has been strong throughout the ordeal.
I have met Mike Tyson twice, both this year and both times he has been nothing but nice, but he still has a very intimidating aura. It is almost like he is hanging on to sanity by a thread.
Going on Oprah I think was good for him (you can watch entire video above). I would ask that you clear your mind of any preconceived notions about Tyson you may have before you watch and I think you will come away seeing him with a new perspective.
