Most importantly it appears Pat White will be ok. He took a vicious helmet to helmet hit from Ike Taylor, but by the time he was carted off he was moving his arms and legs.
I don’t know how many times I have to say this, but I will keep saying until someone listens.
THE WILDCAT SHOULD NOT BE RAN BY QUARTERBACKS
The wildcat started at the university of Arkansas and was ran by Darren McFadden and Felix Jones.
Guess what they are both Running Backs.
The wildcat is a primary running formation hence why it is good for running backs or even receivers who are use to running with the ball in their hands and between the tackles.
The reason Miami is so good at the Wildcat was that Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams ran it to perfection.
Michael Vick was awful in the beginning of the year because teams knew as soon as he got in the game it would be a running play. it is easy to defend if you know what the play is going to be.
Vick only had success when the Eagles allowed him to throw the ball only then did it open up his “Scrambling” ability.
When the Dolphins drafted Pat White I said to myself:
“If they don’t groom him to be a quarterback he will get hurt trying to run the wildcat.”
Pat White was a running QB at West Virginia but he was a QB, not a running back. To ask him to basically play running back in the NFL very short sighted on the Dolphins part.
Your backup QB has to be able to play QB and not be one dimensional. When you have a one dimensional QB this is what happens.
If the Dolphins think Pat White has the potential to be a quarterback in the NFL then let him be a quarterback and if not turn him into a Wide Receiver or something that better fits his skill set.
And let this be a lesson to all NFL teams.
If you draft a QB let him be a QB, if you want a running back draft one.
