After months of being missing in action Tiger Woods will speak on Friday morning at 11am eastern according the CNBC sports business reporter Darren Rovell.
According to a statement issued by his agent, Mark Steinberg, and his spokesman, Glenn Greenspan, and obtained by Bloomberg News, “Tiger Woods will be speaking to a small group of friends, colleagues and close associates at [11 a.m. ET Friday] at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future and he plans to apologize for his behavior.”
As you know I have been pushing for Tiger to speak for months. Maybe it was the porn star claiming he got her pregnant twice that finally made him decide enough is enough.
The one problem I have with his press conference is that the media won’t be allowed to ask questions.
Even though the media are sharks if he just answered all the questions he wouldn’t have to worry about it again.
He simply could say:
“This will be the last time I am going to answer questions on my personal life, so if you have them ask them now because there won’t be a second chance.”
With that sentence he takes all the power away from the media.
By not taking questions whatever statement he makes will be broken down more than the Divinci Code and probably will lead to more questions than answers.
But at least we will know he is alive and hopefully he addresses this like a real person and not read some PR written script.
I will be tuned in.
