Coming through on the BSO Blackberry and now confirmed by ProFootballtalk.com: Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl MVP Wide Receiver Santonio Holmes has been traded to the New York Jets for a 5th round draft pick.
Holmes, who could be facing a possible four game suspension for violating the NFL substance abuse policy and is still entangled in a legal situation with a young woman in Miami, is on his way to NYC.
Depending on how his legal stuff shakes out it could be either a steal for the Jets or he won’t be available for a good part of the season.
Holmes is in the last year of his contract and my sources say he was angling for an extension.
The more interesting thing is that it appears the Steelers gave away their #1 receiver because of his “off the field” problems. I wonder what they are going to do with their quarterback?
