I really hope that Vince Young means what he says.
There is no reason in 2010 that any athlete should be getting into fights in the broom closet office of a strip club. You simply can not be that dumb, even if your Wonderlic score is only 6.
I have always had the solution to this problem. If you want to “make it rain” on strippers, have your boy go scout a few out, have them come not to your house, but your boy’s house, and have them sign releases to take no pictures or publicly talk about it. You will be all good if you do that.
I have talked to a few of my league sources and they seem to be split on how Roger Goodell will come down on Vince Young. The one school of thought is this is his first “criminal” offense that ended up being nothing more than a glorified “traffic ticket,” and Young will get by with a warning.
Others are saying that the video of Young throwing the first punch might be enough to warrant a one game suspension from Goodell, as he once again tries to send a message that if you embarrass the league in any shape, form, or fashion, he is going to come down hard on you.
My personal feeling is while Vince has shown iffy judgment in the past, nothing has ever been criminal; he should get a warning and consider himself extremely lucky.
He really needs to work on being so sensitive — stop being a “Charmin dude.”
