Dwyane Wade returned to Miami early Tuesday morning greeted by … no one. But that wasn’t quite the intention; the plan was to have fans greet Wade upon his return, so the Miami used the social media of Twitter and Facebook to rally fans. At about 12:50AM, the Heat leaked Wade’s travel plans, and word spread quickly.
At 8AM, about 50 fans and even Heat employees waited at Signature Air terminal. Wade was expected to arrive via private charter jet. They never got a glimpse of Wade and that’s because the Heat gave out the wrong information. Wade took a commercial flight from Charleston, S.C. and arrived in the main terminal. “Bad information,” Heat executive vice president and chief marketing officer Michael McCullough told the sign-waving, T-shirt-donning group.
Bwhahaha….I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be laughing. But seriously, the Heat can’t get the correct flight information from their franchise player? Are they really trying to compete with the Knicks for the worst faux pas of this free agency sweepstakes. I cannot imagine the lack of faith that would trickle through my body if I was one of those Heat fans standing there, donning Heat paraphernalia, signs in hand, realizing that I wouldn’t be able to lend my support to keeping Wade in Miami like I intended due to ‘misinformation’ given by the franchise.
Between the Knicks having their presentation leaked and this missed opportunity with wrong location debacle, someone should be fired or at the very least demoted in these two organizations. The stakes are too high for these types of mistakes and everyone needs to have their ‘A’ game. Go hard or go home!
