Amare Stoudemire might have a little Stephen A. Smith in him. A day after announcing that Melo would love to come to the Knicks, reports are now coming out that Anthony will accept the 3 year extension from the Nuggets.
To me it seemed like a no brainer.
Mainly because by signing a 3 year deal, he puts himself in position for one more long term contract while still in his prime of his career.
If he didn’t accept the deal and say their was a lock out he would just be out of luck. He needs that money to pay for Lala’s butt injections and their impending nuptials.
Here are the details from the Denver Post:
Nuggets all-star Carmelo Anthony is expected to take Denver’s three-year, $65 million extension offer, an NBA source said, but Anthony doesn’t have a timetable as he prepares for his wedding Saturday and waits to see how the Nuggets bolster their beleaguered frontcourt.
The Nuggets have pondered trading him if he doesn’t re-sign with the team, but it seems that will become a moot point because of Anthony’s seriousness about re-signing with Denver instead of testing free agency next summer.
Anthony has spent much of the summer in Los Angeles. In June, he said the Nuggets “have pieces,” adding that he would be happy with the addition of “one or two more pieces that’ll work out.” The Nuggets’ nucleus is all under contract for next season.
Congrats to him getting married it seemed like he was engaged for 10 years. Just remember Eddie Murphy’s “Half” speech, before saying “I do”.
Of course nothing is set in stone and things can change quickly during the Summer of Lebron, but as of right now it looks like the Denver Tattoos will be in place for at least a few more years.
