From the beginning Charles Barkley has been highly critical of Lebron James decision to join the South Beach NWO. Barkley’s main beef is when you are considered one of the top 2 basketball players in the world, you don’t join your main competition you try to beat them.
Whereas I understand Barkley’s point I don’t agree with him. When you are a free agent you have to do what is best for you regardless of what others in the past would do.
Sure Bird or Jordan wouldn’t think about being on a Super Friends team, but just because Lebron wanted to doesn’t make it wrong, it was his personal choice.
Some of Lebron’s “decisions” you could be critical including The King of South Beach going gangster on twitter earlier in the week. Barkley had a problem with that as well here is the quote from Sir Charles:
“I heard about LeBron’s tweet…well I want him to make sure he puts my name on there. His little one hour special was PUNK move. Them dancin’ around on stage was a punk move. If he takes that as criticism, so be it. He knows where I am, I don’t run. I’m on tv every week.”
“He’s got enough people kissing his ass with his family and all the people who work for him,” Barkley said. “We don’t have to tell him what he wants to hear all the time … That one-hour special, them jumping around on stage like punks, that wasn’t cool to me. From a basketball standpoint, I wish he had stayed in Cleveland, and if he takes that as criticism, so be it.”
Chuck sounds like he ready to throw some blows. I would have changed one thing about the quote from Barkley. I would have said:
“He knows where I am, I don’t run. I’m on TV every week except the weeks I was suspended because I was drunk trying to get oral sex from a hooker when I was pulled over by police.”
But I digress.
I do agree that Lebron has way too many “yes men/women” around him and he has been coddled his whole career, so Chuck makes some valid points there.
Lebron is being backed into a corner by everyone. I wonder if secretly D Wade knew this would happen? Think
