So this morning on the daily sports roundup #wakeupdeadspin we were shown a pic of Tim Tebow via Jovan.J. The title read, “Tim Tebow’s Hyperbaric Chamber Lets Him Use Oxygen Better Than you, too.” I chuckled and wonder if this is legit….Well apparently it is.
The company pikespeakhyperbaric.com tweeted:
“Tim Tebow goes hyperbaric! Yup, Jesse set up a hyperbaric chamber for the Denver Broncos heralded rookie quarterback last night. Go Tim!”
This is supplemented by pic posted up top to prove it of employee helping Tebow to instal it and a signed Tim Tebow jersey.
TMZ later reports it has spoken with representative at Pikes Peak Hyperbaric and that it was just delivered to camp and quote:
“The device — which is said to “greatly accelerate the recovery process” — was purchased by Tim in 2008 for just under $20,000 … this according to Ric Rooney, owner of Pikes Peak Hyperbaric.
According to Ric, Tebow had the device shipped from his home in Florida to training camp — but couldn’t set it up … so PPH sent a rep to Broncos camp to help Tim out.
Rooney tells us Tebow has been getting “banged up” at practice … and Tim felt the chamber could help him heal quicker. We’re told Tim has a routine where he sits in the chamber for 60-90 minutes after every practice.
We’re told hyperbaric chambers are big in the NFL right now — with stars like T.O. and Hines Ward using them routinely.”
Ok I did not know Hines used hyperbaric chamber nice to know. Of course Hyperbaric Chambers became famous with Ex-OSU and current(don’t remember him playing) Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez.

Of course PPH claim on their website similar to the tent company that:
“The chamber provides up to 300% more oxygen saturation, allowing wounds to heal faster, swelling to be reduced much more quickly, restoration or increased blood flow to injured areas therefore hastening healing, aiding in detoxification and promoting general wellness. Furthermore, bacteria, viruses and yeast cannot survive in an oxygen enriched environment and the pressurized environment of the mild hyperbaric chamber allows many to recover much quicker from surgery or injury.”
Maybe it really works but i’m a skeptic. Case and point, its obviously not working for Gonzalez. When was the last time you saw him playing in Colts uniform, exactly…Unless they can prove legit scientific studies on effect of oxygen therapy I won’t buy it. On PPH sites their real results link brings you to two testimonials. No really hard numbers or stats you can digest. I honestly believe its a mental thing. Coming from a psych background we are thought about self fulfilling prophecy aka Placebo effect. Lots of treatments when treatment is just a sugar pill can lead to symptoms dissipating or completely eradicating. No real change is introduced into body but mind makes you think it does. So if Tebow, Gonzalez, and Ward thinks this works for them well, more power to them. Off my Psych Chair now….
That being said, Pikes Peak Hyperbaric are winning today. Tebow is marketting lightning rod…His jerseys are flying off shelves and his limited edition sneaker line soldout in 5minutes. Dont forget his deal with Jockey. If PPH plays its cards right and has Tebow as pitchman they can benefit with their wallets being lined up. Just saying.
Now to wrap it up. WHERE DID TEBOW GET 20K for a Hyperbaric chamber two years ago??? TMZ is saying Tim himself purchased it . NCAA better check that out, haha
UPDATE***
I left you guys with a thought, where did Tebow get 20k? Speculation was his pops may have had some Creflo Dolla scam going. Well now we know where 20k came from. TMZ has scoop:
“The photo of Tim Tebow standing next to a hyperbaric chamber was “photoshopped” in a diabolical plot to use the NFL star for some quick advertising … this according to Tebow’s business manager. Tebow’s rep tells us that the owner of Pikes Peak Hyperbaric “couldn’t have been further from the truth” when he told TMZ that Tebow purchased the chamber in 2008 for roughly $20,000.
Tebow’s rep explained that roughly 6 weeks ago, Tim signed a “rental agreement with the manufacturer.”
The rep tells us Tim had the machine in his possession in Florida… but had it shipped to Colorado in an effort to help the Denver Broncos rookie “acclimate to the high altitude in Denver.”
The rep says someone from Pikes Peak Hyperbaric helped set up the chamber in Tebow’s hotel room “3 or 4 nights ago” and then asked for a photo … not knowing that someone would later “photoshop” PPH’s website onto the machine.
TMZ spoke with a rep from PPH — who admitted photoshopping his logo over the original manufacturer’s logo and told us, “It wasn’t a well thought out process.”
As for the 2008 statement — the PPH tells us it was “misinformation” on its part.
Alright good. I thought Tebow was going to get Reggie Bush treatment for a second. This would have broke so many NCAA rules. In any case, like i mentioned before, Tebow’s popularity/marketability is mile high right now. This company tried bank on that and pulled a fast one on Tebow courtesy of photoshop. This company should thank God Tebow is a good guy, I doubt he’ll sue them for damages for using his likeness without consent. Its not the religious way, forgiveness in the key. This is going to most likely to be RIP for that company. You don’t do business this way and expect to get away with it. Then again there is the saying, there no such thing as bad publicity.
No word yet if Tebow is returning his chamber…
