After months of being relatively quiet Floyd Mayweather Jr went on UStream to talk about Manny Pacquiao.
It is a bit of a vulgar rant (also racist and homophobic just to give you a heads up), but this is Floyd Mayweather we are talking about. I am not sure why anyone would be surprised, he makes Rex Ryan look like Tony Dungy by comparison.
With that being said I know Floyd is just carrying out his “bad guy” act, but some of the comments were totally uncalled for and to be honest I was uncomfortable watching.
Say what you want about Manny, he seems like a very nice guy and there is a way to trash talk without disrespecting someone’s race. Because if Manny said Floyd should be “picking his cotton” it would have been a big deal.
Just because you are black doesn’t give you a green light to be that disrespectful to someone’s heritage.
Besides saying he is on “vacation” Floyd never explains why he didn’t take the fight, but it appears that from the beginning he had his eyes set on fighting Pacquiao in 2011.
Unless Pacquiao loses to Antonio Margarito (I don’t think Bob Arum would ever let that happen) the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight will have one last shot of being made in May of 2011.
I wouldn’t hold my breath.
