Zeke was hanging out at the US Open when he was cornered by some reporters who asked him what he thought about The King and his “decision” to join The South Beach NWO.
Shockingly Isiah makes some very good points:
Thomas expressed that he wished James had taken his talents to New York, and such would have benefited the league.
“I think — and I honestly believe this — it would’ve been interesting to see if he could have [won a title with the Knicks],” Thomas told the New York Post while attending the U.S. Open. “The curiosity factor, the whole world would’ve been drawn to watch and see if he could do it. The whole LeBron Knick thing would’ve piqued everyone’s curiosity.”
“We wanted him to come to New York, but I think he’ll do well in Miami. They got a great team. I think everybody will be watching to see if they can put it together and win.”
He even defended LeBron, saying that Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan were wrong to say that he was acting against the spirit of the game.
“I strongly disagree with their comments,” Thomas said. “[Magic] had a great team. They said they wouldn’t have left but look who they were playing with. Those teams were stacked.
More so than the Knicks talk, I think Isiah is right on the money with slamming Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan.
I don’t think Jordan would have had any heisitation in leaving if he didn’t get some help when he did.
Granted I don’t think he would have went to another team that already had an established superstar, but he would have left.
Magic never had to worry about that because his team was loaded from the time he stepped on the court in LA.
With that being said I think everyone is ready to put the Summer of Lebron behind them (thank god for the NFL).
