Another day, another athlete in trouble with the law. This time it’s new Lakers addition Matt Barnes. ESPN reports that he has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, smh, here we go again.
“Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran says deputies arrested Barnes after responding to what was termed an incomplete 911 call from a home around 4:16 p.m. Wednesday.
Deputies say both Barnes and the woman had visible injuries, but took Barnes into custody after determining he had been the primary aggressor.
The name of the woman was not released, but she was described by authorities as “a woman who lived with him and with whom he had a dating relationship.”
Barnes was booked into the Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence and maliciously obstructing the use of a telephone line.
He posted a $50,000 bond and was released. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court Monday.”
We all know the woman in question was probably basketball wives star Gloria Govan.
Now Mr.Barnes, regardless of what happened, you don’t touch a woman, unless of course if she has a weapon, knife and gun, and you HAVE to defend yourself (Earl Watson?). The overwhelming majority of the time the man will be arrested, everyone knows this. Best thing to do is just walk away to avoid physical confrontations.
Of course, you’re innocent till proven guilty. More details will officially come out soon enough. Matt Barnes took time to tweet about situation as a preemptive strike against backlash.
I know one thing, David Stern is probably not pleased with Mr.Barnes.
Now call me paranoid, but since she is a basketball wife, I just can’t help but thinking this might be a stunt for the show…just a thought.
