I am 99.9% sure Brad Childress wanted to bench Brett Favre today.
He was playing terribly and the Vikings as a whole were getting their brains beat in by Favre’s former team the Packers.
Since Brett Favre is the real head coach of the Vikings, he continued to play and continued to throw interceptions.
After the game though Brett sounds like a man who is ready to go back to Mississippi and text Eva Longoria in peace:
“I would never have expected to be in this situation,” Favre said, via ESPN. “
“I came back for a Super Bowl, you’re right,” Favre said. “Also (there is) a chance that that doesn’t happen, probably a better chance that we don’t. And there’s a way better chance that you won’t play as well as last year. … But this is a little surprising. Again, I’m just going to go home and … I don’t want to say ‘think’ about this game. Just re-evaluate tomorrow.”
In my opinion Favre’s ego won’t let him quit and secretly he wants his consecutive streak mark to reach 300. I do believe though if Brad Childress manned up, told Favre he was going to be benched he would quit and then blame Childress for it.
The season is over for the Vikings and once Favre is gone for real they are going to need to “re-evaluate” how they handle this entire situation. One player should never come before the team.
