Sometimes you just need to know when to chuck up the deuces and move on.
It is painfully obvious that Merriman when he doesn’t have his “supplements” delivered to him is no longer an impact player. Some say it was the “supplements” that made him an impact player in the first place, others say the injuries have just slowed him down.
The point is sometimes you just have to treat players like Old Yeller and take them behind the shed.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman has limped off the field with a lower right leg injury shortly after opening his first practice with his new team.
Claimed off waivers by Buffalo last week, the former San Diego Chargers star pass-rusher was hurt during an individual drill a half-hour into practice Wednesday. After taking a few steps back, Merriman took a pivot step when he hopped in the air in pain.
Merriman limped to the sideline where a trainer spent a few minutes checking the player’s ankle before escorting him off the field.
Reports were that Merriman wasn’t pleased about going to Buffalo in the first place, but he needed to show he could still perform on the field, before he Faded to Turkey with Allen Iverson.
Nothing indicates that anything has changed from his time with the Chargers, and he will soon be unemployed.
