Remember when Nas signed with Def Jam and technically Jay Z was his boss?
They did a few songs together, appeared in a few videos and if you let Jay tell it, they were buddies.
Did you ever look at Nas’ face when he was with Jay Z? You could tell he still hated his guts and figured he would turn on him at some point.
When I think of Donovan McNabb and T.O., that is what I compare it to. T.O. has been trying to kiss and make up with McNabb for years and Donovan for the most part has been cool with it, but if you really paid attention, you can tell he was still wary of Owens.
Here is a good reason why—during tonight’s TOcho Show (which I have still not received my royalties from), Owens defended Mike Shanahan’s decision to bench McNabb and then pointed out that McNabb had his struggles in the Super Bowl.
Is T.O. telling the truth?
Absolutely.
Could he have shown a little restraint in throwing his so-called buddy under the bus?
Of course he could have.
Here are the quotes:
“Well, I don’t really want to start anything, but I did play in the Super Bowl and there were rumors where he couldn’t get our two-minute offense going at the end of the game,” Owens said. “I’m just saying.”
“He’s the head coach, so it has to make sense,” Owens said. “Well, this is a situation where Mike Shanahan, he sees these two quarterbacks on an everyday basis. . . . So he’s had a chance to observe.”
Then he wonders why players across the league dislike him— that is the prime reason why. He can be a salt thrower at times. The wound is already deep with McNabb no need to make it burn even more, especially if you claim this guy is your friend.
It doesn’t matter what McNabb did six years ago. What matters is what happened last Sunday and the facts are it was just a bad decision by Mike Shanahan, and the comments he has made since then have just made it worse.
Owens is having a good statistical year, but he should be reminded that the Redskins are 4-4 and the Bengals are 2-5. Why doesn’t he speak on the struggles of his own quarterback and worry less about what is going on in DC?
