Vince Young Speaks…Says He is Frustrated

I do not deny that Vince Young may have a legitimate beef or complaint about how he is being treated in Tennessee.

He is definitely entitled to his opinion, because I want athletes to be open and honest about how they are feeling, but here is what Vince Young doesn’t understand.

When you are dealing with adversity, you can either handle it professionally like a man or you can handle it like a 2 year whose pacifier was just taken away.

Vince on numerous occasions has decided to do the latter. Here is his reasoning for his latest meltdown:

It was very frustrating,” Young said in a Sunday night telephone conversation.

Young said he knows he made mistakes dealing with the situation Sunday and didn’t react the way he should have. But he said his frustration of not playing and not having Fisher’s faith had built up to the point in which he didn’t know how to handle it. He now knows he did not handle matters the right way.

“It was just an awkward situation,” Young said. “I just want to play football. I want to win games. I want to go to the Super Bowl. That’s it.”

Meanwhile, Young denied throwing his jersey in the stands, as was widely reported. He said he was simply giving it to the daughter of longtime Titans executive vice president Don MacLachlan.

“She’s been very supportive of me and I wanted to give it to her as a sign of thanks because she knows what I’m going through,” Young said.

Young then left the locker room and ignored media members as Titans safety and former University of Texas teammate Michael Griffin chased after him. The Tennessean reported that Griffin was seen confronting Young in the players’ parking lot.

Griffin reportedly pleaded with Young, “You can’t leave, you can’t do this,” before Young shrugged and left.

Young said he is frustrated and bewildered at the criticism now being leveled at him.

“It is not just me. It falls back on me, but I don’t know how to respond to it when it’s not just me. I’m outnumbered right now,” he said.

Ignore everything that you just read and concentrate on the last sentence.

That is the #1 problem with Vince Young and many of these young superstars, they can’t seem to recognize that sometimes it is you.

Sometimes you have to look in the mirror, not worry about what anyone else is saying and simply say:

“I’m I being the best player I can be, am I doing all the right things?”

Vince Young’s mirror has been lying to him for a very long time and it doesn’t appear that he will ever get it. This isn’t about being outnumbered this is about him understanding that there is more to being a NFL quarterback than looking the part and making it rain in the club.

The fact that he is clueless makes me wonder if there is any hope for him.

It took Michael Vick going to prison before he figured it out, I would hope with Young something that dramatic wouldn’t have to happened and that someone will talk some sense into him, before the flashy lights go dim.
