Jim Tressel: “Terrelle Pryor Will Return For Senior Season”

From a pure football standpoint Pryor needs another year in school.  Unlike a lot of quarterbacks who need to leave when their draft stock is at their peak (see Cam Newton) there is still a lot of improvement that Pryor needs to make in his game.

Yes the NCAA screwed him and hopefully on appeal the suspension will be reduced, but I think the decision to come back is a wise one.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Tressel said Thursday that he told the players they “have to make any decision based on the future” before the team left for New Orleans. He said that “it wouldn’t be fair if someone was able to participate” and then leave for the NFL.

Tressel said the five players — Pryor, running back Dan Herron, receiver DeVier Posey, left tackle Mike Adams and defensive end Solomon Thomas — were unanimous in saying they would stay for the 2011 season. All would be eligible for the NFL draft if they had decided to leave school.

They could always change their mind, but Pryor even with only playing half of next season has an opportunity to play his way into the 1st round of the NFL Draft.

If he leaves now at best he is a 2nd round pick and who knows if he would drop even further.

The Sweatervest knows best in advising him to take his punishment like a man and return to OSU.
