The risk far outweighed the reward and the Cowboys only had to look at how the Lions rushed Matthew Stafford back to see the potential pitfalls of throwing Romo back in the mix.
Next season is very important for Romo. He needs to take that next step as a quarterback or the Cowboys will have to start looking toward the future.
