The one thing I like about Cam Newton and something that I think will serve him well in the NFL is his ability to toss aside distractions, controversy and still perform on field.
The latest drama involves Cam preferred seating at the Lakers vs. Sun game.
While the majority of the Oregon and Auburn players sat in the nose bleed seats or under the basket, Cameron got prime time seats.
I’ll let Sports By Brooks pick it up from here:
During the game, prominent Birmingham TV personality and WJOX-FM radio host Jim Dunaway Tweeted, “Hanging at Lakers-Suns… Pugh and most Auburn players in upper deck…Cam in lower bowl. Thanks Barkley for the tix.”
For the game, Newton was seated in Section 113 in the lower bowl while many of his teammates were in seats scattered around the arena in both the lower and upper level of the building. Auburn Sports Information Director Kirk Sampson was with Newton throughout the night to handle media requests that came up before and during the game.
Barkley told Dan Patrick this morning that he did not provide tickets to Newton. On his radio and FSN/Direct TV show, Patrick said that Barkley told him off-the-air today:
“Tell those people who are writing this to kiss my ass. I did not get him those tickets. But if he wanted tickets I would’ve gotten them for him.”
Cameron will have to get use to this, he is superstar now that goes way beyond the football field. That can have positive and negative effects.
He has the type of personality, look and skill to become a brand, but he has to be careful because that also means a lot of people will be trying to take advantage him.
Cameron always needs to keep his eyes and ears open, because there will be many ready to stab him in the back for their own personal gain.
