Here is one of the problems with the industry I am in.
There is no accountability, meaning that bloggers and independent website owners can say pretty much whatever they want without any viable sources and because of the new media world we live in, people will accept opinions as facts.
This video of Kobe Bryant receiving this mysterious envelope has been sweeping across the internet. People are speculating they are paternity papers.
The issue is no one knows, but some are reporting as fact.
As more people tell the story, the story itself sounds like a Lifetime movie. Kobe knocks up a woman, pays her off and sends her to Italy, she can’t bear the burden of the secret and comes back to the states to try to get Kobe on Maury.
Is that possible?
Maybe.
Is it news that should be deemed credible?
Not really.
At least until some facts come out, a woman comes forward or Maury books the show.
Just remember when you are reading these stories, that for every Deadspin catching Brett Favre or Mark Sanchez, there are 100 more that are just made up hyperbole for page views.
