I am going to assume they are referring to “Football Ben” and not “Bathroom Ben”.
From a pure football perspective, that is a good goal to have. Roethlisberger has been to three Super Bowls. Here is what Newton’s adviser George Whitfield had to say.
“I think that’s Cam’s NFL model, in that, they are both built like power-forwards in the NBA,” Whitfield told Chris Russell of ESPN 980 in Washington. “They’re both winners, they close out games, and they have an ability to extend plays.”
“I think Ben is a Hummer, and Cam is a Hummer 2, with racing stripes and a spoiler,” Whitfield said.
The main difference between Ben and Cam is while physically they are both imposing (Cam is more athletic), Roethlisberger started three years in college in a pro style offense, whereas Newton only had one year of college ball in a spread style system.
Roethlisberger was much more prepared to start playing in the NFL than Cam Newton, but doesn’t mean that he can’t get to a Big Ben level, just don’t expect it immediately.
Also Cameron should make sure that he stays out of the women bathroom.
