I don’t think people give Chad enough credit in regards to the name the change.
He was universally panned by the mainstream media when he decided to go from Johnson to OchoCinco. They said it was buffoonery and it would hurt his endorsements.
But Ocho has had the last laugh, because say what you want about him on the field, but off the field the OchoCinco brand is bigger and stronger than anyone could ever imagine.
Chad said he was going to change his name back to Johnson, but he has had a change of heart.
Appearing with Buck and Kincade on WCNN in Atlanta (via SportsRadioInterviews.com), Ochocinco said he’s sticking with his adopted name.
“Why would I mess up the brand?” Ochocinco said. “I can’t mess up the brand. I have so much going on. . . . I [said] that to piss off the people at ESPN.”
I am sure Skip Bayless will have a lot to say about this.
