The Randy Moss situation reminds me of the last years of Deion Sanders.
Deion during those final years in the NFL was getting by more on reputation than skill. People were still scared of the Sanders from the ATL, San Fran and Dallas days, but we weren’t truly seeing Primetime when he was with the Redskins and Ravens.
People still remember the Moss of the Vikings and early on with the Patriots. That still worries defensive coordinators, but that Randy Moss doesn’t exist anymore.
Didn’t stop Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan from raving over him. Profootballtalk.com has the details.
“Randy Moss, I’ve said all along, is a great vertical receiver,’’ Ryan said, per Bedard. “And you have to roll coverage. Most teams would have to roll coverage to him. We never did, but we got burned for a touchdown. But he was a weapon. A vertical weapon down the field.’’
Is Ryan talking up Moss because there is an interest in him?
Maybe, if that is the case that scream you just heard was from Braylon Edwards’ beard. Wherever Moss ends up it will be on the cheap with a heavily incentive contract, but he will get another opportunity.
*UPDATE*
Mike Freeman: “Several league sources told CBSSports.com the team is seriously intrigued by Moss.”
