Remember when Doc Rivers was talking about stepping away from coaching for a year or so in order to watch his son, Austin, play basketball for Duke?
Yeah, well…scratch that.
According to the Associated Press, Rivers and the Celtics are working on a deal that would keep him pacing the Boston sidelines for a few more years.
The deal is for “more than two or three years,” the person told The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the details were still being worked out.
Losing to the Miami Heat in the second round must have left a bad taste in Doc’s mouth since he told his players after their Game Five loss that he would come back. Sounds like family time with Austin will have to wait just a little bit longer.
Besides, they can get together during the ACC conference season when the Blue Devils travel up to Boston College.
