It seems as if The Ohio State football program cannot catch a break these days. Ohio States director of compliance is currently looking into whether or not the sale of at least 50 cars to Buckeye relatives and players met NCAA rules.
A salesman at a dealership apparently received game passes from athletes and also handled many of the car transactions. A Chrysler 300 with former DE Thaddeus Gibson’s name on it shows that the purchase price was $0. Family members of QB Terrell Pryor who is already suspended for the first five games of the year also purchased cars from the dealership. The salesman and the owner of the dealership have attended several Ohio State football games including a Fiesta Bowl and National Championship game.
In true Ohio State form the school officials are confident that no wrong doing has taken place, but are investigating none the less.
I already think that Tressel should be out as head coach. At no point should a coach ever become more important than the university. It doesn’t seem as if Ohio State wants to fire Tressel at all, but if this turns out to be another violation I think that he has to be gone.
