As great as they were on the baseball diamond, the Gamecocks work off the field deserves a round of applause as well. South Carolina baseball team when not playing in Omaha, spend time visiting the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center of Omaha.

Quote by senior Robert Beary best explains the teams heart and dedication.

“All week we’re worried about us winning and then you come here, and none of that is on your mind,” senior Robert Beary said. “You come here and enjoy spending time with kids who are battling for their lives. We battle on the field but in the end, it’s not our lives. For them, it is. Visiting here is a way to step back and admire something besides baseball while we’re out here.”

Watching the College World Series and this team exemplified everything collegiate sports are all about; teamwork, dedication, clean play. Sure college baseball kids are allowed to be drafted, but as long as they do not sign pro contract they may return to school, but that’s a discussion for another day.
