Shane Battier was on the Jorge Sedano Show on 790 The Ticket in Miami this morning promoting his Take Charge Foundation when the host asked him, very gingerly to avoid getting Battier in trouble, if he would consider bringing his talents to South Beach.
“The last time I teamed up with Nick Arison we won a national championship.”
Nick Arison was the team manager for Mike Krzyzewski while they were both at Duke. He also was an assistant under Coach K with Team USA, where the seeds of “The Decision” were planted. Nick Arison is also the son of Miami Heat owner Mickey Arison.
Battier is the type of player Pat Riley covets. A hard nosed player who can come off the bench, play defense, take some charges and hit an open shot. He is also an extremely intelligent player who would likely be willing to take less money for the chance to win a ring.
But of course, Battier only said he thinks Miami is a nice city and that he has a previous relationship with Nick Arison. *wink*wink*
The interview will be up later at www.790theticket.com
