Sources indicate that the Patriots have released DT Albert Haynesworth.
Given that Haynesworth blamed his lack of production in Washington and its 3-4 defense, he had some people hopeful he could get back to a high level of play in New England, but that has not been the case. Big Al now hits waiver wire where, if he goes unclaimed, will have the opportunity to sign with any team.
In the third quarter Haynesworth was involved in a conflict with Defensive Line coach Pepper Johnson after a Brandon Jacobs’ touchdown run.
No one can argue with the fact that Haynesworth’s effort has not been the same since his contract year in Tennessee where he was an unstoppable force. Since then, however, he’s been nothing but a headache. Will some team take a chance on him for the rest of the season in a low-risk-high-reward situation?
