People foolishly thought that Kimmy’s 72 day marriage (which I affectionately call the Dolphin Marriage, think about it) would end the reign of the Kardashians.
But what you have to understand is when your brand is based of DRAMA, things like this only enhances the brand not hurt it. In the world of the Kardashians it doesn’t matter if you like them or not, all that matters is if you are talking about them.
Love them or hate them the checks keep clearing.
E! has a new boss who says she wants to clean up the Network, but that doesn’t mean getting rid of her most valuable asset (you see what I did there).
Bonnie Hammer is adamant that going forward the network not be as dependent on the Kardashians as it has been. Despite being a “beautiful” and “interesting” family, she believes the current strategy of living with only one or two franchises is “too fragile,” and has ambitions of adding several more over the next couple of years.
Not that Hammer is interested in abandoning the kash kow family just yet. “I think it will have its own life expectancy,” she says of the lucrative brand that the family has built on and off screen, “and we’ll just go along with it and help hone what’s right for E! and what’s not right for E! as we develop a whole other world.” Falling among the former are mom Kris Jenner‘s two youngest daughters — technically Jenners — and what Hammer says she hopes are “two, three, even four new Kardashian [spinoffs].”
I have Chris Broussard like sources who tell me they want one of those spinoffs to include Reggie Bush, but so far Reggie Reg has resisted.
Don’t be a prop, but then again if those NFL checks dry out it is always good to have a fall back plan.
Like anything else at some point people will get sick and tired of the Kardashians or a new dysfunctional family will come around, but until the one thing is very clear.
