Gregg Williams is now the defensive coordinator for the Saint Louis Rams and while a suspension could hurt the Rams it won’t cripple them.
But if the Saints lose their head coach, GM and star defensive players for any significant amount of time, that will be a problem.
People familiar with the deliberations at the NFL offices has informed the Mike Jones of the Washington Post that New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, General Manager Mickey Loomis and former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams are all facing lengthy suspensions for the bounty program that took place during their tenure together. Also, individual players that were directly involved in the bounty program that took place are also looking at missed time as well.
It is beginning to appear more and more likely that commissioner Roger Goodell is indeed going to bring the hammer when it comes to the punishments that will be handed down. It is appearing that the suspensions will cover at least a 1/2 of a season. One individual hinted that it was possible that a full season could be lost, citing the suspensions for Alex Karras and Paul Hornung in 1963 for gambling.
