In news that can only be described as obvious, Tim Duncan has let the world know that he has no intention of leaving the Spurs when his contract expires July 1. Duncan spoke with Yahoo Sports’ Johnny London and quickly put to rest any speculation that he could test the free agent market.
As Duncan bluntly put it, “No…I’m not going anywhere. You can print that wherever you want to. I’m here and I’m a Spur for life.”
I find it hard to believe that anyone actually figured The Big Fundamental was over going to leave San Antonio. He’s established himself as a first ballot hall of famer and won 4 NBA titles all while patrolling the paint era for Gregg Popovich and the Spurs. With this “drama” out of the way, the Spurs can now fully concentrate on dispatching the Thunder and attempting to bring another championship parade to the Riverwalk.
