I don’t think anyone thinks that Penn St shouldn’t have be punished, the problem is what exactly that punishment should have been and who should have been hit the hardest.
The NCAA came down hard on the Football Program in regard to scholarships and bowl banning, but honestly considering the crime, that made no sense.
The football players and current coaches had nothing to do with this, the NCAA should have collected ALL the money from the football problem that wasn’t essential and put it in a fund for abused kids over the next 5 years. That would have been far greater than the $60 million fine that Alumni have vowed to paid for PSU.
That way the players and coaches wouldn’t be punished, but the administration and university who acted horribly would be hit where it hurts the most.
Their wallets.
