NBC Connecticut is reporting that University Of Connecticut head men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun is reportedly set to retire.
A source close to Calhoun said his retirement is imminent.
The 70 year old coaching legend has won 3 national championships in 26 season at the university.
Calhoun spoke earlier today and told NBC Connecticut’s Kevin Nathan, “Don’t be surprised by anything, even this week.”
Reports from another source have confirmed that Calhoun wants to meet with his players in person before making any formal announcement.
UConn is already facing a 2012-13 post season ban for failed academic achievements from 2007-10.
